Tranmere won the 2009 Football Masters

The 2010 Football Masters Cup final takes place this weekend with eight teams competing to be champions.

Former Aston Villa, Barnsley, QPR, Birmingham, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Tranmere players will play in a knock-out competition.

The eight teams won their regional heats with the grand final being held at Birmingham's LG Arena.

Ugo Ehiogu, Geoff Horsfield, Keith Curle and Jason Lee are among the names involved in the competition.

Ehiogu, who will be playing for Aston Villa, told BBC Sport: "I really enjoyed the experience of playing Masters in Asia last year as well as seeing loads of the lads again.

I am playing against a lot of my good mates in the Sunderland team in the quarter-finals so definitely don't want to lose that one

"It is great that I can make my UK debut playing for one of the home teams in the Masters grand final - hopefully we can be competitive and challenge for the title."

Nicky Summerbee, who will turn out for Manchester City, added: "I am still as competitive as ever and am looking forward to putting on the famous light blue shirt once again.

"I am playing against a lot of my good mates in the Sunderland team in the quarter-finals so definitely don't want to lose that one."

The tournament is in its 10th year and the grand final is being held in Birmingham's LG Arena on Sunday.

In the quarter-finals, Sunderland face Manchester City, Aston Villa take on Tranmere, Barnsley play QPR, while Midlands rivals Birmingham and Nottingham Forest go head-to-head.

The winners will go through to the semi-finals, culminating in a grand final later in the evening.

Last year's tournament was won by Tranmere Rovers who beat Bolton Wanderers 4-3 in the final.
